About Elisa Bruder

Elisa Bruder (Schwester) is a contemporary performance artist based in Switzerland. Born in 1998, she studied Visual Arts and in the Master Physical Theatre at Accademia Dimitri. She also rides snowboard, goes hitchhiking, does "Chlauschlöpfen" (a weird Swiss tradition making a lot of noise) and is a feminist. Combining all that she has developed a distinctive approach to visual and physical performance art.

With several years of professional experience, Elisa has performed in many different venues and spaces. Her style blends physical theater with visual elements, creating work that is both emotionally evocative and intellectually stimulating. Additionally she is part of the Contemporary/urban Dance Company TeKiTeKua (ZH) since 2020 www.teki-tekua.ch

Navigating between the didactics and dada she is constantly questioning norms and traditions and likes to confront power structures with a middle finger.

Artist Statement

My work explores the tensions between structure and chaos, permanence and impermanence. Through a process-oriented approach, I create visual and physical dialogues that reflect the complexity of human experience in an increasingly fragmented world.

Navigating between the explicit content and Dada Absurdity is the field of friction I dive myself into. I do not fear to tickle the borders of the accepted and find my very own language. I the risk of failing and the risk of not being understood constantly. I want to create something unique that can cause ambiguity and raise questions.

The "Venus" series represents my ongoing investigation into mythology and femininity. Drawing inspiration from both personal experiences and cultural symbols, these works reflect my fascination with the ways in which we construct and navigate our understanding of identity and embodiment.
